Prop List
Knife
We have decided to use a knife in the kitchen as it is a commonplace object in this environment, and it shows the change in power between the characters throughout the Thriller opening. In the kitchen scenes we show the victim stabbing the kidnapper to show the castration theory. At first the female seems to follow the Freudian theory, however when she fights back she goes against the natural order by not being submissive. This means that she must later be disciplined to restore natural balance and prevent her from emasculating the antagonist. The knife is a prop that is essential to our storyline, as we have also applied Todorov’s equilibrium theory with the knife. The kidnapper has the initial equilibrium, as he possesses the knife and therefore holds power over the victim. However, the victim takes the knife from the kidnapper in the struggle of the fight and stabs him, causing a new equilibrium, as she now holds the power and has penetrated him, giving her the power over him. However, the equilibrium is then disrupted again as the kidnapper overcomes her, which leads to him holding her captive, and giving him back the power; new equilibrium. Later in the opening, the girl manages to get free and uses a knife to attack her kidnapper, giving her the power for a brief time. The kidnapper knocks her out, taking her power and restoring the initial equilibrium.
Chair, Rope and Duct Tape
The use of the chair, rope, and duct tape in our Thriller opening is important, as it has enabled us to show the female character voyeuristically. By using these props we are able to add an implication of sexual element (BDSM) in order to objectify the female and make her seem vulnerable. We will use Mulvey’s male gaze in order to further expand the idea of voyeurism, causing the audience to look at her as a sexual object.
Hooped Earring/Red lipstick
The female character in our opening will be wearing hooped earrings, as they are reminiscent of a sex toy, and are also seen as a vaginal porthole. By adding these into the mise en scene, the male audience are able to view the female and will relate her to sexual desires. The victim will also be wearing red lipstick, as it is symbolic of sex, lust, pain and murder. All of these semiotics tie in well to the storyline and also bring sexual elements of BDSM into the scene, and allow the male audience to view the female voyeuristically.

Equipment List
Laptop
We are hoping to use Alex's laptop during production as it will be more convenient for us to upload our videos and edit them. It will enable us to edit both inside and outside of school, which would help us significantly as we can be more productive with our time and hopefully produce a better standard of work. If we are unable to use a laptop for editing, we will use one of the school computers to edit our opening. This means that we will have to be well organised, and plan our time to best help us complete our music video. Although it will be harder to edit with the school computers, it may be necessary, in which case we will have to work around this problem and be productive both inside and out of school.
Tripod
Both Alex and I have a tripod, which (with two camera's) enables us to get multiple angles of the same shot, meaning that there would be more continuity to our film, and makes it easier to edit. We will use the tripods to make our thriller opening look more proffesional as it will also reduce human error that would cause our piece look inconsistent and unproffesional (e.g shaking and moving when unnecessary) Using a tripod will mean that any movement will be smooth, enabling us to be more experimental with our filming and produce better quality shots.
Sony Camera
We would have liked to film using as DLSR, however our budget permitted us from using one of these, therefore we have decided to use a Sony video camera. We have chosen to use this camera as they enable us to instantly review our clips, which means we can save time and effort by watching our work back whilst on set and making and necessary changes. They also use S.D cards which means that we can save our work onto these easily, making our work portable which is extremely convenient.
Editing Software
We have chosen to use Adobe Premier Pro as our editing software as it easily available to us, and it used in the film industry to create successful media. It is easy to use and has all the nececities that we need for editing. It is flexible and we believe that we can create a convincing and proffesional standard video.

Costume List
Alex's costume will consist of jeans and a hoodie in order to
conceal his face and leave the viewer in suspense (enigma theory.)
Lucy's costume would be colourful to make her appear as innocent and vulnerable. She would wear tight jeans in order to objectify her. The female character in our opening will be wearing hooped earrings, as they are reminiscent of a sex toy, and are also seen as a vaginal porthole.
